Invisible microbes are ever-present in the visual culture of popular movies, usually as a menace shaping spaces, clothing, interactions, and futures. Across decades of genre films—science fiction, horror, thrillers—bacteria, viruses, and parasites have embodied invisible threats, transforming bodies, behaviors, and entire environments. Bacterial Frames assembles footage from over 100 movies into a fast-paced collage in which cinematic space is infected, sterilized, and reshaped through the lens of microbial fear. While this imaginary is often driven by anxiety and control, bacteria also appear in dramas and comedies—with consequences that are unexpected, absurd, and at times even hilarious. The film unfolds as a hallucinatory supercut: a layered montage in which images and sounds collide in a continuous flow, forming a dense visual narrative that reveals how our imaginary of bacteria mirrors shifting cultural fears and fantasies.

My role - Iconographic research and cinematographic screening aimed at identifying specific thematic sequences. The process involved the critical selection and extraction of targeted clips, organized into a digital taxonomy to provide the material framework for the final video-essay assembly.
